TYPE OF INSTRUCTIONS
Teacher directed instructions and student centered instructions
ACTIVITIES
There will be different types activities tied to a lesson or lessons. These activities will involve different methodologies and modalities to reach the different learning styles.
PROJECTS
Throughout the school year students will be working on different class projects: Problem-Based Projects, Inquiry-Based projects, group projects, Etc.
WRITE UPS
Every student is required to write a short (1/2 page) writeup of their own project: individual project or group project.
CRITIQUES
Students can write constructive critiques on other students’ projects and even on their own projects.
WRITTEN REFLECTIONS
All students are required to write a reflection for each activity, project, etc. A reflection allows you to reflect on what you did during the process. A reflection promotes and nurtures higher order thinking. It also deepens knowledge as students write about what they produced. Students also learn to develop self-regulation. They are able to regulate their thinking. It also allows them to connect information to prior knowledge.
CLASS JOURNAL
Students will have to maintain a class journal; in it, they can include their class reflections.
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS
Homework will be announced on a separate page or, at times, may be an extension to in-class assignments.
